Support When "Touchpoints" Cause
Distress
Throughout our lives, there are various
“touchpoints” that lead to change and upheaval of our
inner lives. Often these times can become overwhelming to
our psychological balance, causing emotional and
behavioral distress, depression, anxiety and other
symptoms that interfere with normal functioning. Parents
are often confused and upset when their children display
such distress. They often do not know what to do or whom
to ask for help. The child and family art therapy
approach at Parent to Child offers a child-friendly
supportive venue for families to reconcile conflict,
express difficult feelings and find more effective ways
of communicating. Additionally, parent to child offers
general counseling, consultation, therapy for children,
teens and adults, and social skills groups.
Helping Parents to Help their Children...and
Themselves

Our parenting courses,
workshops and therapy focus on how the touchpoints
along the family life cycle affect parents and
caregivers. From the birth or adoption of a baby,
through the milestones of the early years, into the
challenges of school-age and beyond, parents
struggle in their own development balancing their
inner needs with the needs of their growing
child/ren. We believe that an emotionally healthy
parent, attuned to their child’s signals is the
keystone to raising happy, resilient children. With
an emphasis on postpartum support, couple’s
communication and understanding infant and child
development, our hope is to equip parents to stay
grounded during this life-altering time and to tune
into their young children in a loving way to foster
attachment, attunement and healthy adaptation.
